Fire destroys Dresden Road barn ZANESVILLE A Dresden Road barn was destroyed in a Friday morning fire. The fire, in the 5000 block of Dresden Road, was reported about 4 a.m., according to the Falls Township Volunteer Fire Department. A cause has not been determined.
Aetna sues agency COLUMBUS (AP) One of two managed care organizations that were tentatively awarded new Medicaid contracts is suing because Ohio officials revoked that decision. A review of applications changed how points were awarded and meant the contracts wouldn't go to Aetna Better Health of Ohio and Meridian Health Plan of Ohio. At stake is billions of dollars in work with the tax-funded health care program. Aetna wants its contract reinstated. The lawsuit filed Wednesday against the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services also asks the court to stop the contract process while the matter is resolved.
Five of six companies that lost bids for contracts had filed formal protests with the state, claiming flawed and inaccurate scoring in the process. Girl, 5, dies in fire at Ohio home STEUBENVILLE (AP) Firefighters said a 5-year-old girl died when a fast-moving blaze trapped the youngster on the second floor of a house in eastern Ohio. Anadarko Petroleum Corp. has posted signs on County Road 38 instructing any of its truck traffic to avoid certain areas of the road. A road-use maintenance agreement is in place for about two miles of gravel roadway off Ohio 83 north, and ends at the entrance to the RockTenn Landfill, said Brian Timmons, utilities director for county, also a liaison for shale drilling activity in the county.
Timmons said not much had to be done to the road, which was wider than the typical county road because it was a truck hauling road when the area was strip-mined. He has been monitoring the situation, and for the most part all that's had to be done is some watering for dust control at this point. Brian Cain, senior staff public affairs representative for Anadarko, said the company is proceeding with caution, and there could be some activity in Coshocton County as early as July. "We do have plans to be there, hopefully in July," Cain said. He can't say yet which permitted well will have activity first, though, one on Columbus Southern property in Linton Township, or the one located on the RockTenn Landfill property.
Robin Keegan, corporate public relations representative for RockTenn, said the mineral rights to the property were sold some time ago. There was no response to messages left for several property owners in the area. For now, Anadarko is drilling wells in Guernsey County in Spencer Township and in Noble County in Brookf ield, Sharon and Olive townships. Anadarko also has two Utica Shale permitted wells in Muskingum County, both in Meigs Township. One, on Paisley Road, already has been hydraulically fractured.
